Welcome to my blog!
Greetings, friends, welcome to my slice of the internet!
Why does writing about one’s self seem so difficult despite being the person who knows you best?! I suppose it comes from not knowing where to start as the volume of available information is so vast… Well, here it goes!
I’m Pamela, a thirty four year old wife, mum to two tiny humans, native Michigander, believer and photographer based in Metro-Detroit. Macomb County has been ‘home’ my whole life and I don’t foresee that changing any time soon. (Unless I win the Mega-Millions in which case you will find me on the Big Island of Hawai’i. Aloha, Michigan!)
On September 12, 2008, our seven year anniversary, I married my high school sweetheart, Mike. Flash forward 12 years and we are parents to Luke, 5 and Rosalie, 3. That whole “the days are long but the years are short” line are the truest words ever spoken when referring to having children. It is the oddest mix of emotion- being so tired of hearing “mom, mom, MOM!” and wishing they were more independent and yet crying in your car after you drop them off at the first day of preschool as they don’t turn back to wave but run confidently WITHOUT YOU in another direction. The combination of pride and fear as you see them navigating life on their own is a real trip…
Photography is clearly a love of mine or I would not be writing this! I bought my first DSLR in 2009 and since then have continued my love of photographing people no matter what they may be doing. I’ve always loved looking at photographs, recent or decades old. I grew up very close to extended family and having photographs to reminisce about my favorite memories with them as the years go by and life gets busy are very important to me. As a mother quality images of my family hold even greater significance. Posed, “say cheese” images are nice and I do take some but most of my shots are candid, whether they be of my family or clients. Candid conveys emotion, relationships and immortalizes a memory like no posed photo ever could. (in my humble opinion, anyway…)
Random info about me:
I feel every emotion very deeply, for the better or worse. I am a sentimental sucker (I happy cry watching parades begin… nope, not kidding) and connect strongly to people who are also conscientious of family and faith being the cornerstones of happiness.
Tea > Coffee. Love the smell of coffee but not the taste. Black teas with a splash of milk. Unsweetened ice tea keeps me hydrated all summer long.
I. Love. Dessert. Enough said.
Quality time is my love language- be it with my husband, family or friends. I am an extrovert and being with the people I love most makes me feel complete and content.
Opening my mailbox to find a Better Homes & Gardens issue is my favorite mail day of the month. I am not a gifted home decorator, master gardener or culinary genius by any means but I live vicariously through BH&G by pretending I am.
My favorite “big night out” are praise and worship concerts. I fell in love with P&W music in 2018, went to my first 4 concerts in 2019 and was hooked. My favorite bands include Hillsong United, For King and Country and Zach Williams.
Well, that is about all I can think of right now. Thanks for hanging out for a spell, I hope you will continue following me as I blog, on facebook or Instagram as I write and share about photography, life and whatever may come next!
